The short version Waldo runs on your desktop. Your project data goes only to the AI provider you configure — there is no Waldo server in the middle, and we never see your data. The only network calls the software itself makes are a small license check for paid licenses and, only when you click for it, an update check. Trial mode makes no unrequested network calls at all.

Who we are

Waldo GIS LLC ("we," "us") is a Virginia, USA company. This policy covers the Waldo for ArcGIS Pro add-in (the "Software") and the waldogis.com website. Contact: hello@waldogis.com.

The Software: where your data goes

Your GIS data stays under your control. The Software runs entirely on your computer, inside ArcGIS Pro. Waldo GIS operates no cloud service that processes your projects, and we have no access to your data, prompts, or results.
Your chosen AI provider. To answer your requests, the Software sends conversation content — which can include portions of your project (layer names, schemas, attribute values, analysis results, map images) — to the AI provider you configure with your own account or API key (for example Anthropic or OpenAI). That transfer happens directly from your machine to your provider under their privacy terms; choose a provider and settings consistent with your data's sensitivity. If you configure a locally hosted model, no project data leaves your machine.
Session logs are local. The Software writes complete session logs (conversation and tool activity) to your own machine as an audit trail. They are never transmitted to us.
No telemetry. The Software does not send us usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostics.

License validation (paid licenses only)

When you activate a paid license, the Software sends our payment/licensing provider exactly three things, once: your license key, a one-way hash of a machine identifier (no personal information), and the Software version. Periodic background checks afterwards carry only the license key and its activation id. Validation tolerates being offline for an extended grace period and never transmits project data. Trial mode and free Ask mode make no license calls.

Checking for updates (optional)

The Software checks for new versions only when you click “Check for updates” in Settings. That fetches a public version file from waldogis.com; the request carries nothing about you or your project, and nothing is checked in the background.

Purchases

Licenses are sold through a merchant-of-record payment partner. They — not we — collect and process your payment details under their own privacy policy; we receive order information (such as your name, email, and license key) needed to provide support and fulfil the license, but never your card number.

Email

If you email us (for example for early access or support), we keep the correspondence to respond and to notify you about the product if you asked us to. No marketing lists you didn't opt into, and you can ask us to delete your correspondence at any time.

The website

waldogis.com is a static site. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking. Our hosting/CDN provider may log standard technical request data (such as IP address and user agent) for security and delivery purposes. We count downloads of the add-in in aggregate (time, country, referring page, browser/client type, and network operator, derived from standard request data) — no cookies, no identifiers, no profiles. The “Buy a license” button loads our payment partner's embedded checkout, a small script served from a public CDN; payment itself happens with the payment partner under their privacy policy, and it only loads on the page that offers it.

Data retention and your rights

We keep order records as required for tax and accounting, and email correspondence as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold — email hello@waldogis.com and we will honor applicable requests. We do not sell personal information.

Children

The Software and site are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the "last updated" date, and note the change in the Software's release notes.
